I was born in 1954 in Poland. A daughter to two deaf parents who were holocaust survivors. My first memory is our arrival to Haifa port in Israel. My dad who has lost his entire family (all siblings, parents, grandparents cousins etc.) did not have a single photograph to remember them by. I don't know if that was the reason why I became so sentimental about photographs. The ability to document moments that will forever be gone intrigued me early on. My dad's best friend was also deaf and the photographer of the deaf community. When I was nine years old he took me into the dark room and showed me the magic of creating an image. It was then that my passion for photography was ignited. Years later when I made L.A my permanent home in 1976 I was offered the opportunity to study photojournalism in college. The journey has been long and fascinating from processing and printing black and white 21/4 film to the latest in digital photography. It is especially rewarding to capture photos that tell a story and express feelings.
My portfolio includes wedding photography, documentary photography, head shots, family portraits, school photography, celebrities, nature and travel photography.
I have owned my business since 1997. In the past year when most of us have been keeping social distancing I have been able to offer family sittings on my property where kids can climb, hike and enjoy nature for about an hour. The results are lovely compilations of natural family portraits..
My work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, People, Billboard, and US Weekly and can be viewed at Calamigos Ranch in Calabasas; Pepperdine University in Malibu; Woodland Hills Country Club in Woodland Hills; Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga; The Ahmanson House in Agoura Hills; and at the LA River & Garden in Los Angeles to name a few locations.
I currently photograph RAW images using the Canon EOS 5DSr (52 MP) and the best lenses on the market. All images are managed through Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for maximum quality.
We had Miriam take our photos for our engagement and for our wedding. She is truly very gifted in this field, and it shows in her pictures. She is very friendly and wants to be sure she gets all of the pictures you want at your wedding. She has you make a list of the pictures and her assistants help to make this possible. She put together a slide show to music and it literally made me cry when I watched it after our wedding. EVERYONE loved her and the pictures she took. I had one guest tell me that she wished she knew about her when her son got married because she was so good. She was moving around the wedding guests capturing everything without needing direction. Pictures last forever and that's all you have after your wedding to remember and share the day. I think the photographer is the most important vendor at the wedding and I highly recommend Miriam." - Becky B.
"I have had the pleasure of working with Miriam for my wedding photos and maternity photos. She has a unique eye that brings out the authenticity of the moment. I don't know how she does it! Maybe it's her years of experience behind the camera. I felt so comfortable being photographed by her almost completely nude for my maternity photos. She puts you at ease and gives just enough instruction to get the shot just right. Some photographers end up having so many photos to search though with many duplicates, but not Miriam; she sees the shot and captures it just perfectly in that moment. I highly recommend her for your next event." - Lorin H.
